Editorial policy
This page sets out how every page on the site is written, sourced and checked, and what the site will not publish whatever a source says.
How the pages are written
Every page on Betting Bonus Kenya is drafted with AI tools under the editorial policy and run through automated checks against the primary sources it cites before it is published.
Each page is drafted with its sources open. A legal statement is written only when the section or regulation can be named next to it, and a figure is used only when it appears in a primary source the page lists. When a number cannot be found in a primary source, the rule is described without the number.
Sources that count
Primary texts only:
- the Gambling Control Act, 2025 (No. 14 of 2025), published in Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 141;
- the 2026 Regulations under it, made on 29 June 2026 and gazetted on 30 June 2026: Licensing (L.N. 111), Conduct of Gambling Operations (L.N. 112), Foreign-Based Operators (L.N. 113), Advertising (L.N. 114) and Gambling Appeals Tribunal (L.N. 115);
- the Gambling Regulatory Authority's own website, including its published list of licensed operators;
- the Excise Duty Act (Cap. 472), the Income Tax Act (Cap. 470), the Finance Act, 2026 and notices published by the Kenya Revenue Authority;
- the Data Protection Act, 2019 and the pages of the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
News reports, affiliate and review sites, forums and operator marketing are not sources here. Where a regulator's web page and the gazetted text disagree, the page says so and follows the gazetted text.
What is never published
- rankings, ratings, scores or "best" lists of operators or offers;
- live bonus amounts, promo codes, or any invitation to bet, deposit or register;
- hyperlinks to operators (domains appear as plain text, as the regulator lists them);
- testimonials, winners' stories or any suggestion that gambling is a source of income, all of which rule 9 of L.N. 114 bars from gambling adverts;
- first-hand claims: the site does not claim to have opened accounts, placed bets or used any operator's product, and it invents no reader data.
How a page is checked
Before a page goes live a script checks it, and the page is published only when the script reports zero defects. The checks cover:
- sources: every guide lists primary sources with the date each was read, and none may come from the excluded list;
- the 18+ notice and a link to the responsible gambling page on every page;
- promotional wording: a list of phrases that sell gambling, promise results or invent experience fails the page;
- operator links: any hyperlink to a gambling operator fails the page;
- duplicate text: each page is compared with the other pages of this site and of other sites, and a page that repeats too much fails;
- form: title and description length, working internal links, visible dates, and the label Illustrative example on every worked calculation.
Who reviews the pages
At present no named human reviewer checks pages before publication. The byline on each guide links to this section so that the point is clear wherever you start reading. The automated checks above are the review. When a named reviewer is appointed, their name and role will appear here and in the byline.
Dates
Each page shows the date it was last updated. That date changes when the content changes, not when the site is rebuilt. Facts carry the date their source was read; the facts used at launch were read on 28 October 2026.
Independence
No operator, affiliate network or advertiser pays for, reviews or approves any page. The site earns nothing today; the how we make money page explains what would come first if that changed.
Mistakes
Errors of fact are corrected and recorded in the public log on the corrections page, with the date and what changed. A correction of substance is never made silently.
Readers under 18
The site is not written for anyone under eighteen and does not try to appeal to them. Rule 6(1)(c)(iii) of L.N. 114 bars gambling adverts from showing people who are, or appear to be, under eighteen; this site applies the same line to its own pages and uses no pictures of people at all.
